Centre of Migration and Development Studies (CMDS)

The Centre for Migration and Development Studies (CMDS) is a research centre located within the Department of Economics at the University of Western Australia. It is primarily interested in applied economic research that has policy implications. Established in 1987, the Centre has been very active in pursuing research mainly on the Indian Ocean region relating to various aspects of migration and development processes. It has already achieved national recognition in both government and academic circles in Australia. Academic and research staff associated with CMDS have extensively published in refereed journals and authored numerous books dealing with various developmental issues. The Centre is very active in organizing international seminars and conferences.
