It is designed to prepare students from diverse backgrounds for a career in development and related fields, and for development practitioners aiming to reflect upon and augment their professional expertise. The MA is offered on a part-time as well as a full-time basis, so students can pursue their studies while working. Core modules are supplemented by electives, chosen from a wide range of courses; the aim is to enable students to develop expertise in their area of interest.
Students have the opportunity to undertake an individually supervised written dissertation and are given extensive guidance in the practical and theoretical challenges of independent academic research. They also benefit from an affiliation to the Centre for Peace and Development Studies.
