She is a long-time researcher who has taught and published in the areas of migration (including forced migration), refugee issues, gender, ethnicity, nationalism, work, globalization, war. Her articles and books include co-edited publications:\u00a0<em>Development and Diaspora: Gender and the Refugee Experience<\/em>\u00a0(Artemis, 1996);\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pi.library.yorku.ca\/ojs\/index.php\/refuge\/index\" target=\"_blank\">Refuge<\/a>\u00a0Special Issues on\u00a0<em>Gender Relations and Refugee Issues<\/em>\u00a0(1995) and with Sarah Dryden-Peterson on\u00a0<em>Higher Education for Refugees<\/em>\u00a0 (2010-11). She is lead co-editor of\u00a0<em>Feminists under Fire: Exchanges across War Zones<\/em>(2003); and a co-editor with Jennifer Hyndman of\u00a0<em>Sites of Violence: Gender and Conflict Zones<\/em>(2004). She co-founded and co-coordinated the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/wicz\/\" target=\"_blank\">International Women in Conflict Zones Research Network<\/a>\u00a0(1993-2004). Her SSHRC funded research with Hyndman (2005-2009) on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/gprs\/HTML\/agprs.html\" target=\"_blank\">protracted refugee situations focuses on Somali refugees in Kenya and Afghan refugees in Iran<\/a>. They are currently writing a book based on their research. She is principal investigator for a SSHRC grant (2011-13) &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.refugeeresearch.net\/bher_intro\" target=\"_blank\">The Provision of Higher Education for Long-Term Refugees in the Dadaab Camps, Kenya<\/a>&#8221; and co-lead with Don Dippo on a MasterCard Foundation Grant:<a href=\"http:\/\/www.refugeeresearch.net\/bher_intro\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Reaching Higher: The Provision of Higher Education for Long-Term Refugees in the Dadaab Camps, Kenya<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Don Dippo (Co-Lead)\u00a0<\/b>| Email:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ddippo@edu.yorku.ca\">ddippo@edu.yorku.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/edu.yorku.ca\/faculty\/index.php?dept=&amp;mid=1717\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/ddippo1.jpg\" alt=\"Don Dippo\" width=\"100\" height=\"97\" \/>Don Dippo<\/a>\u00a0is a University Professor in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/edu.yorku.ca\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">Faculty of Education<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/yorku.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">York University<\/a>. His interests include: the social and political organization of knowledge, environmental and sustainability education, global migration and settlement; university\/community relations; and teacher education. He serves on the Executive Committee of\u00a0 the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/crs.yorku.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Centre for Refugee Studies<\/a>\u00a0at York University and is on the Board of Directors of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/successbeyondlimits.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Success Beyond Limits<\/a>, a not-for-profit organization that supports high school youth in Toronto\u2019s Jane\/Finch community.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Aida Orgocka (Project Manager)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/Aida_Orgocka-001-80px.jpg\" alt=\"Aida Orgocka-BHER\" width=\"95\" height=\"105\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Aida Orgocka is the BHER Project Manager. She received her PhD degree in Human and Community Development with a minor in Gender Relations in International Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. She has worked in applied and academic settings, as well as fund-raised for research initiatives in areas of women\u2019s rights, gender, civil society, aid and migration in countries in Eastern Europe, Eastern Africa, South Asia, South America and North America. Aida has been contracted by UN agencies, national and local government, NGOs, academic institutions and for-profit entities to engage in policy making, research, program management and evaluation of social development projects.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Ian Tytler (Finance Manager)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2015\/05\/Ians-pic1.jpg\" alt=\"Ian Tytler - BHER\" width=\"88\" height=\"118\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ian Tytler is the BHER Finance Manager based at York University. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen&#8217;s University, Kingston and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA). He has worked in financial management in post secondary education for the last fifteen years.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Emily Antze (Program Administrator)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/Antze_BHER_profile.jpg\" alt=\"Emily Antze - BHER\" width=\"75\" height=\"100\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Emily Antze is an experienced manager of overseas community development projects and holds an MA in Sociology and Equity Studies\/Comparative, International and Development Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Before joining BHER she was as a Program Manager for Canadian NGOs International \u00a0Development and Relief Foundation and World Literacy Canada; in her previous roles she has overseen multiple CIDA-funded projects in the education and health sectors and has worked in Ghana, India, Nepal and Zambia.As the Program Administrator for the BHER project, Emily&#8217;s work encompasses both Program Support and Education Program components. \u00a0She is based at York University but collaborates closely with field staff in Kenya.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Philemon Misoy (Project Liaison)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/Misoy-photo2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1073 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/Misoy-photo2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"99\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/Misoy-photo2.jpg 300w, https:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/Misoy-photo2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/refugeeresearch.net\/ms\/bher\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2013\/10\/Misoy-photo2-100x150.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 99px) 100vw, 99px\" \/><\/a>Philemon Misoy is the BHER Project Liaison Officer based in Dadaab Kenya. He has a Bachelor of Education from Moi University. He has served in the Dadaab Refugee Education Program in various capacities for more than eight years with a focus on Secondary and Tertiary education. He is based in Dadaab. Khalif has an undergraduate degree in Education and is currently enrolled in an online M.Ed. program at Kenyatta University. Prior to joining the BHER team, Khalif held various work responsibilities in the social sector.
