The CEAA is the main research, documentation and training centre in Brazil in the field of race relations and black culture. It harbours the main library in Brazil on the subject of race relations, racism, Afro-Brazilian population, black culture and Portuguese-speaking Africa. The CEAA’s journal, Estudos Afro-Asiáticos, has been published twice a year for the last twenty years. It carries articles in Portuguese in the field of ethnic studies and African studies. In its editorial board sit some of the best known Brazilian and foreign scholars in the field of race relations, Afro-Latins and Portuguese-speaking Africa.
