The Arab Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism: a serious threat to human rights

This document states that provisions of the Arab Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism, also known in English as the Arab Convention for the Combatting of Terrorism (the Convention) adopted by the League of the Arab States (the Arab League) present a serious threat to human rights in Arab countries. Amnesty International is calling for its amendment to ensure that it is consistent with international human rights and humanitarian law, particularly given the long-standing commitment of member states of the Arab League, and of the League itself, to human rights, as manifested by membership of the United Nations and ratification of international human rights treaties. Includes the full text of the Convention.
