This paper provides an overview of good practices relating to the identification, prevention and reduction of statelessness and the protection of stateless persons in South East Asia. It covers the following countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. The paper provides a description of how the laws, policies and practices of South East Asian countries have helped to address statelessness and highlights some of the key lessons learned. It also discusses some remaining challenges that the regions stakeholders face as they seek to fully address problems of statelessness in the future.
