Amnesty International statement to the 86th session of the Council of the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

In this document Amnesty International expresses concern that the IOM continues to carry out projects, on behalf of governments, which negatively impact on the human rights of refugees, asylum-seekers and other migrants. These concerns arise in the context of how persons are treated when they are or may be of concern to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and they concern the implications of the IOM’s Assisted Voluntary return (AVR) programme, as well as the manner in which information is disseminated bythe IOM.
