Looking Back and Building Futures: Former Refugees’ Views on Settling in New Zealand

The ‘Quota Refugees Ten Years On: Perspectives on Integration, Community and Identity’ programme of research aims to build a platform of knowledge and understanding about integration, community and identity for former refugees who arrived in New Zealand ten or more years ago through the refugee quota category.  The research involves a multi-method approach, including a survey, focus groups and interviews. It is being led by IMSED[1] Research team of the Department of Labour with the Ministry of Social Development and Office of Ethnic Affairs as key partner agencies.
