In view of the examination of the USA’s initial report on its implementation of the United Nations Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (Convention against Torture) by the UN Committee against Torture in May 2000, Amnesty International takes this opportunity to comment on its concerns relating to torture and ill-treatment of detainees, prisoners and others by law enforcement officials in the USA. Includes concerns on the treatment of detained asylum seekers in the USA.
