La Trobe Refugee Research Centre Annual Report 2010

Please find attached a copy of the 2010 Annual Report from the La Trobe Refugee Research Centre (LaRRC).

2010 was a productive year for LaRRC as we continued to focus on research that would promote the wellbeing, participation and social inclusion of people with refugee backgrounds, and that would challenge and inform policy and practice.

During 2011, this research has continued. Last month LaRRC, in conjunction with the International Detention Coalition (IDC) published There are alternatives: A handbook for preventing unnecessary immigration detention. The SettleMEN project, a longitudinal study into the health and well-being of men from refugee backgrounds living in South East Queensland, has also recently been completed. The final report from this collaborative study between LaRRC and the Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma (QPASTT) SettleMEN: Health and settlement among men from refugee backgrounds living in South East Queensland is due out next month.
