Since the beginning of NATO air attacks on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) on 24 March, Yugoslav security forces have intensified their efforts to forcibly expel ethnic Albanians en masse from their homes. More than four weeks later, ethnic Albanian refugees continue to flee Kosovo in large numbers. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has estimated that 770, 000 persons have now crossed the borders into neighbouring countries. The witness testimony gathered by Amnesty International suggests that further violations of human rights, including deliberate and arbitrary killings of civilians, arbitrary detention and forcible expulsion continue to be committed by members of the Serbian security forces in Kosovo.
